Lean Six Sigma, Metode Atasi Keterlambatan Pesanan Produk PT. Cedefindo

For beauty entrepreneurs or beauty companies, the name of PT Cedefindo is not a new thing. It is because PT Cedefindo known as one of the biggest cosmetic contract manufacturing companies in Indonesia. Since 1993, PT Cedefindo has become the contract manufacturing company for Martha Tilaar Group production needs and external order (Tol). In 1999, PT Cedefindo officially become a part of Martha Tilaar Group and entering 2013, the company not only engaged in cosmetic field but also in herbal product production. 

In order to improve the quality of its service and the pleasantness for its customers, PT Cedefindo already had ISO 9001 in 2000, GMP (CPKB) from BPOM in 2002, ISO 22716 in 2014), and Halal sertification from MUI in 2014. More over, PT Cedefindo also doing some continued improvement, one of it is the the implementation of Lean Six Sigma methode to run the company.

 

What is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma is a combined methode of two techniques, Lean and Six Sigma. Lean that founded by Taiichi Ohno is a philosophy to eliminate all activities that has no value and/or should be eliminate from the organization. Lean needs culture change and includes vision integration, culture and strategy to serve the customer, which content of high quality, low cost, and short delivery time on it. 

 

If Lean focus on activity eficiency, then Six Sigma is an effort that run continiously in order to reduce deviations. Six Sigma produce better service and product with lower cost needed. This methodology is already proven in helping the organization to increase financial profit trough business efficiency and customer satisfaction improvement. Six Sigma methodology is used to help business to cut the cost while improving quality, customers satisfaction, and cyclical time. When it paired with Lean, with emphasis on reducing waste, this pair will become a strong and free repairing process so it will produce four type of data.   

 

Why Lean Six Sigma? 

The needs of service improvement in order to increase its quality has become PT Cedefindo reason to use Lean Six Sigma methode. By using this method, the company expect to minimize delayed order from clients. Based on PT Cedefindo’s identification, company policy which apply 30 days for product delivery process is not significant and cannot be fulfilled by the company, in fact, there are 34,7 days of delay recorded with total percentage 93,94% delay. With fact that has potential loss for company and customers, and dissatisfaction customers in service,  PT Cedefindo decided to use Lean Six Sigma. Following the method, the determined target to fix the system still using 30 days policy added 15 days for tolerance of delays, so that the total day is 45 days. The result of Lean Six Sigma in 2017 is significant. Recorded on April 2017, the average accomplishment from ordering to delivery process is 40,61 days or faster 4,38 days from the target, 45 days.
