There's a saying: Seek knowledge even as far as China. However, when it
comes to plants and natural ingredients, even China can learn and
broaden its knowledge from Indonesia, a country with more than 33,000
plant species that offer numerous benefits and are beneficial for
industrial development, particularly in the beauty industry.
Through
the Martha Tilaar Innovation Center (MTIC), Martha Tilaar Group has
conducted research on various plant species, from Sumatra to Papua, to
explore their potential as raw materials and utilize them for human
needs. This dedication has made Martha Tilaar Group the cosmetics
company with the most patents on medicinal plants native to Indonesia.
On
this occasion, Dr. Kilala Tilaar (CEO of Martha Tilaar Group) was a
speaker at PCT (Personal Care Technology) 2025 held in Shanghai, China
(2/07), and shared insights into Indonesia's extraordinary biodiversity,
a wealth that is not only a source of natural beauty innovation but
also has great potential to address future global industry challenges.
Through a presentation titled "Plant-Powered Beauty: Indonesian
Botanicals for Skin Wellness, Natural Color, & Sustainable
Formulation," Dr. Kilala introduced the variety of raw materials,
formulations, and innovations developed by Indonesia, which can be
utilized not only by the Indonesian market but also by the global
market.
