President Director of PT Martina Berto Tbk Encourages SMEs Community to Have a Strategy When Facing a Crisis

In early December (1/12), the Citizen's Economic Empowerment Institute (LPER) invited President Director of PT Martina Berto Tbk as one of the speakers at the Investor and SMEs Gathering which held at Sarinah, Central Jakarta. With the theme Investment Prospects in a Recession Period, through this talk show and discussion investors and business people, especially SMEs, are encouraged to remain resilient when facing a recession that may occur in the future.

The aforementioned gathering has four speakers, namely Mulyadi Atma, the owner of PT Atma Mulya Jaya, DR. Tatang Iman Sadewo President Director of PT Injaya Cipta Mandiri Makmur, Anim Imanudding Deputy Chairman of Regional People's Representative Assembly for Bekasi and Founder of Kranggan Cooperative, and Bryan Tilaar, President Director of PT Martina Berto Tbk. Each of them presented presentations related to the fields they were involved in, from agriculture, edutech and healthtech, to the use of cooperatives for people's businesses. Bryan Tilaar gave a presentation entitled Perspectives on Industrial Investment during a Recession.

Through his presentation, Bryan Tilaar provided an overview of the challenges and strategies that had been taken by the Martha Tilaar Group, especially PT Martina Berto Tbk in dealing with the crisis during the recent pandemic. According to him, when facing a crisis, a company or business needs to be smarter in finding opportunities. The hope, of course, is that the business being carried out will not stagnate and be able to keep moving. More over, it is also necessary to be good at maintaining the supply chain and cash flow when a company is facing a crisis in order to survive.

Another thing that was conveyed was, quoting from the words of entrepreneur Warren Buffet, companies need to split or divide their assets into several baskets, so that if instability occurs, the business will not be too disrupted. In a crisis, we need to maintain focus, have a positive mindset, and do not too impulsive in making investment decisions. Through this meeting, hopefully more collaboration can be created so that SMEs could keenly runs their business.
