Indonesia’s Achievement in WorldSkill Competitions 2019

WorldSkills Competition 2019 has successfully held in Kazan, Russia, on August 22-27, 2019. WorldSkill is a global skill competition that is held to test young generation’s skills. There were about 1.300 young professionals from 63 countries that involved at this 45th WorldSkill and compete to win medals in 56 skill category. From Indonesia, there were 36 contingents who compete for this event.

With all those contingents, there was Mifta from SMKN 3 Malang and Cahya from SMK 27 Jakarta to represent Indonesia in Hairdressing and Beauty Aesthetic category. Both of them passed national selection process and get an exclusive training from Puspita Martha International Beauty School for one year. During the training session, Mefta trained by Pingkan Tilaar, Puspita Martha’s Hairdressing Expert, and Cahya trained by Tutut Angeng Kardianti, Puspita Martha’s Beauty Aesthetic Expert. The involvement of Puspita Martha team as part of the training was selected by Indonesia Ministry of Cultural and Education.

Before they go to Russia for WorldSkill Competition 2019, President Joko Widodo briefly invited them to Presidential Palace. In that opportunity, he expressed and conveyed his supports to all the contingents and optimistically said that Indonesian young generation’s skills able to compete with foreign resources. “I am happy to support you and feel optimist that we will have opportunity to own good human resource, human capital, that we can cherish and beneficial for our country,” said President Jokowi as quoted from www.setpres.setneg.go.id page.

His support gave such great motivation because Indonesia contingents successfully won some medals. With other 14 contingents, Mefta became one of Indonesia representative who received Medallion for Excellence. This achievement, of course, recorded as good and encouraging moment for Indonesia and Puspita Martha. Congratulations!
